Connecting The World
The First 777-300ER in Boeing House Colors
This Boeing 777-300ER registered N5017V was first flown on the 24th of February 2003. Here the aeroplane is shown configured in flight test mode with several of the forward passenger windows blanked out, infact one of the windows is covered with a red panel indicating the presence of specialised testing equipment.
Also present in this configuration is a trailing cone extending out on a cable from from the rear of the aircraft via a module attached to the top of the tail fin.
The fuselage was painted in a design exhibiting some of the far flung destinations this ground breaking new aircraft could connect. Indeed it was taken on a round the world trip visiting customer airlines whilst displaying its prowess for long distance flights! Later this aircraft was delivered to Japan Airlines where it was assigned a new registration number and is now painted in the colour scheme of the oneworld organisation.
