The Queen Of Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific 747-400ER over Hong Kong
Long known as the Queen of the skies, the Boeing 747 has grown, over her long tenure of service, to manifest many people’s vision of the archetypal airliner. Even though it isn’t the last iteration of the type, the 747-400 is the most iconic among all 747 variants. This beautiful aircraft, a Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400, with registration B-HUJ, wears one of the world’s most
recognised and well loved liveries. As she traces across the sky over the famous city of Hong Kong she completes an iconic scene and one which is now consigned to aviation history. Famously, B-HUJ was the first aircraft in the world to pioneer the Polar 1 route from New York JFK to Hong Kong across the North Pole, while simultaneously making the first commercial flight to land at the newly opened Hong Kong International Airport at Chek Lap Kok on the morning of July 6th, 1998. On October 8th, 2016 she was flown over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour in a low level flypast to signify the end of her long and beloved reign as the Queen of Hong Kong.
