The Way of the Dragon

Dragonair A330 over Hong Kong

A Dragonair Airbus A330-300 climbs high over the city of Hong Kong following its departure from Kai Tak Airport. The view of
Hong Kong below takes in the vast and meandering Victoria Harbour with all of its thriving life and activity, and the majestic
geography of the surrounding mountains and the city’s magnificent skyscrapers. Key among these are the two statuesque buildings
which stand like sentries on either side of the western reach of the harbor. They are the International Commerce Centre or ICC
on the northern side in Kowloon, and The International Finance Centre or IFC on the southern side, on the Island of Hong Kong.
These two buildings evoke the spirit of Hong Kong as it has long been known as a major centre for international
commerce and finance, and an exciting metropolis of hard working, successful and diverse people.

Dragonair was founded on 24 May 1985. It was rebranded as Cathay Dragon by parent company Cathay Pacific in 2016.
On 21 October 2020, Cathay Pacific announced that it would shut down all operations of Cathay Dragon and merge
it with its parent company. This merger marked the end for Dragon after 35 years of operations.
